Church of Our Lady of Popolo
Benguela, Benguela, Angola
The church of Our Lady of Popolo was built in stone at the end of the first half of the 18th century, featuring a nave, chancel and two side chapels, two towers, baptistery and choir. Façade with voluted pediment; above the doorway, the date’s inscription indicates the building works of 1748. The façade has an oculus with a stained glass window. Inside a balustrade and pulpit of Brazilian wood carved in the Rococo style, unique in Angola.
