Ondjiva/Ngiva [Vila Pereira d’Eça], Cunene, Angola
Equipment and Infrastructures
It was the most magnificent building in the city during the few years between its construction (1969) and independence. It represents the modern public architecture of the final years of the colonial phase with its elegant prismatic body resting on piloti. Following the intense militarization of the region the building, located on the city main square, was seriously damaged in 1981. With the recapture of the city its ruins were converted into a Provincial Monument (in 1998). Recently, a new building for the Provincial Government (following a completely different architecture) was erected on the same site in 2010.
