Equipment and Infrastructures

In this quarter it is worth noting the buildings of the Cinema and Hotel Ruacaná (the cinema, project by architect Raul Rodrigues de Lima, from 1944-1951, has a side tower and a veranda opening onto the avenue) and the New York House, with its modern design, built in the 1930s-1940s; and the square where the Bank of Angola and the Commercial Association stand, both built on the same compositional basis as the Governor’s Palace. The east is marked by the very homogeneous modernist fronts of rental buildings notable for their shade grills grates as a basic element of composition.
