Located on República /25 de Setembro Avenue, this work was begun in 1901 (by public work contractor David de Carvalho) and was concluded in 1903. It probably was a pared-down copy of the Alster Pavilion in Hamburg. The Market is composed of a single-storey body with a central turret, and masonry façades along classical lines, marked by the rhythm of the semi-circular arched bays. In the interior, a metal structure covers the precinct.
