Palácio de Ferro (Iron Palace)
Luanda [São Paulo de Luanda], Luanda, Angola
Equipment and Infrastructures
It is said that the original set of the varied pavilions was designed by Gustave Eiffel for an international exhibition; later on the Commercial Company of Angola purchased and assembled it in Luanda in 1896. It is of the same period as the Eiffel Tower (France) and the Crystal Palace in Porto (Portugal). The building is a unique example in Luanda and an urban reference. It began to decay in the mid-twentieth century but was completely restored in order to house the Diamond Museum.
