Equipment and Infrastructures

In a modern style pattern, rather like the Pêro de Anaia Grammar School in Beira, it was designed under the auspices of the Overseas Urbanization Office by the same architects, Licínio Cruz and Eurico Pinto Lopes, in 1956. It was only concluded some years later and started functioning in 1961 although it was only officially inaugurated on the 28th of May, 1962. The frontage is exactly similar: a symmetrical composition with a monumental central portico and two wings dominated by horizontal lines with projecting verandas on the two floors. The process was superintended by architect Fernando Mesquita from the Maputo town hall. It is said that it was a project originally thought for a high school to be built in Lisbon later transferred to the Mozambican capital
