Church of Immaculate Mary
Chimoio [Vila Pery, Mandigos], Manica, Mozambique
This is a small church, without towers, on neo-gothic lines; it was under construction in 1931. There is an ogival entrance in the frontage, surmounted by a balustrade pediment topped with pinnacles and with a small belfry of the axis. The whole volume of the church is framed and given rhythm by buttresses. Soon before dying in 1967, Paulo de Melo Sampaio executed his last project for a new church at Chimoio. According to an account by architect Bernardinio Ramalhete, its implementation is uncertain.
