Iron Building at Município Square (former Oceana Coys Building)
Beira, Sofala, Mozambique
Equipment and Infrastructures
A work characteristic of the so-called “iron architecture”, this is one of the few surviving examples of a kind common in the city in the early 20th century. The first floor housed two hotels – International and Avenida – while the ground floor was used for some important shops such as Libório Rodrigues, the Bazar Económico and Casa Pohomull Bros. (probably closed in 1962).
