Caputo Market in Cazenga Quarter
Luanda [São Paulo de Luanda], Luanda, Angola
Equipment and Infrastructures
A work of great functional simplicity by Fernão Lopes Simões de Carvalho (built in 1962). It uses exposed concrete in an open system of structures and roofs, ensuring adequate ventilation and airing of spaces in a small-scale work which is well adapted to the context of a working-class quarter. The typological solution using a number of independent reinforced concrete structures, composing spacially linked rooflines, reminiscent of the Vila da Feira Market by Fernando Távora dating from the 1950s.
