The Town Hall and Prison in Aracati is a 19th-century structure, which follows the style of other buildings of the same kind in Brazil, with its jail on the ground floor and the council chambers on the floor above. The building is characterised by cornerstones, a cymation surmounted by a small fascia and two quadrangular towers capped by pinnacles. The building was listed by federal law in 1980.
